Cracking Almanzor Filly!

The proven source of Derby colts and Oaks fillies, Almanzor has continued to do the job over recent seasons from his Cambridge Stud base. To date he’s the sire of 29 stakes winners however when matched with Savabeel and O’Reilly mares he’s particularly potent. From 18 runners out of Savabeel mares Almanzour has produced 13 winners and three stakes winners, the like of Trav, Zabmanzor and Keeneland, the latter two stakes winning 3yo’s over a staying trip. Another of his better performed staying 3yo’s, Positivity, is a three-time stakes winner and out of an O’Reilly mare. The filly purchased today is out of a Savabeel mare, out of an O’Reilly mare.  

Her dam, Kanzai, was a $425k yearling from one of Waikato Stud’s best families, being a full sister to Synchronize out of New Zealand Champion Filly Legs. Her first two foals are unraced and in leading Victorian stables. Synchronize’s first two foals are by I Am Invincible and Wootton Bassett , so there’s plenty going on in the family to continue building residual value.

 

This filly was as good a mover as there was in the 70 strong Cambridge draft. She’s medium sized and strong enough, however it was her movement that really drew us to her.

 

The filly will now spell at Hallmark Stud, Te Kauwhata before being flown to Australia in early April to be broken in. She’s had every advantage in life to date and we fully expect her to develop into a lovely staying 3yo with a firm emphasis on fillies’ classics.
