Imagine Standing In the Winners Circle At Flemington with this fabulous Almanzor 2yo filly trained by Group 1 Gavin Bedggood.
At the 2026 William Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney, this filly by ALMANZOR was very high on our shortlist of preferred buys – and the more we saw of her during sale week, the more we liked her.
She’s a ripper on type. She presented beautifully every time we inspected her, handled the busy sales environment particularly well and, when she eventually walked into the ring, we already knew that if the price was right, she was one we wanted to take home. Once the hammer dropped we elected to send her to one of the best young trainers in Victoria and indeed in Australia namely Gavin Bedggood. Training from the state of the art Cranbourne complex "Group 1 Gav" has proved himself a star on the rise. From Group 1 glory with Mornington Glory and Kingswood, Gavin has proved himself adept with both sprinters and stayers. A top ten metro stable in the 2025/2026 season Gavin has started the new season in sensational fashion. Already he has 15 winners on the board at a remarkable strike rate of 24% and fair to say it's now not easy to get a horse into his stables. Fortunately we have a cracking relationship with one of the best communicators in the sport and he is keen to support Team Grand.
Our breaker is also Gavins breaker and pre trainer so the transition into his stable will be seamless and this filly is already fully broken in and back into pre training.

Her sire ALMANZOR was an outstanding racehorse and one of the best three-year-olds of his generation anywhere in the world. A son of champion sire Wootton Bassett, Almanzor won three Group 1 races during a brilliant 2016 season – the Prix du Jockey Club, the Irish Champion Stakes and the Champion Stakes at Ascot – establishing himself as Europe’s outstanding three-year-old.
Importantly, he’s now translating that class into the breeding barn.
Almanzor has already demonstrated remarkable versatility as a stallion, producing elite performers from sprinting distances right through to genuine staying trips. His progeny include Victoria Derby winner MANZOICE, Sydney Cup winner CIRCLE OF FIRE, multiple Group 1-winning sprinter FIRST FIVE, and international Group 1-winning mare GEZORA. In other words, Almanzor is proving that he can sire a serious racehorse – and not just one particular type.
This filly’s Dam was a Stakes-winning mare and winner of six races up to 1400m. She’s also a half-sister to winners in Hong Kong up to 1650m. Go further down the page and the quality continues. Every dam on the page is a winner, including her third dam CANNSEA, a Group 1 winner over 1200m, while her fourth dam BEACHSIDE won the prestigious Group 2 VRC Wakeful Stakes over 2000m.
There’s also an interesting aspect to this particular mating. Cambridge Stud has noted the success Almanzor has enjoyed when matched with mares carrying the Danehill and Zabeel bloodlines. Our filly is from a Darci Brahma mare – and Darci Brahma brings precisely those influences together.
So there’s speed there. There’s quality there.
And importantly, there’s also enough stamina through both sides of the pedigree to suggest that this filly could develop into a very versatile racehorse.
Our opinion is that she has all the makings of a miler, but with the Almanzor influence and the depth of staying blood further back in her pedigree, it certainly wouldn’t surprise us if she eventually stretched out to 2000m – and perhaps even further, she could be an Oaks style of filly.
