Lightly raced staying filly with David Vandyke
Viva Racing recently purchased the well-bred 3 year old filly Carrasco who has only had two career starts in Victoria, beaten less than a length on both occasions.
On debut she finished 3rd behind California Blues (transferred to Hong Kong) and Sweltering who finished 2nd in the Group 1 Australian Oaks at her last start.
At her second career start, she was a fast finishing 4th and beat the likes of subsequent winners Hey Bro’unga and Think Like Patty.
Think Like Patty has recently transferred to Matt Dunn in Northern NSW where he has won his last two starts in dominate fashion.
Carrasco has been transferred from Victoria up to David Vandyke at the Sunshine Coast. David is well known as an outstanding trainer of staying fillies and mares.
The staying races in QLD are particularly weak and provide a great opportunity for Carrasco to move through the grades quickly. We are confident our filly will be a winner at Saturday metro grade in Brisbane during her career and with further improvement to come may reach greater heights.
Carrasco has the added benefit of having some pedigree post her racing career. She is by Japanese sire Staphanos, the son of Deep Impact. Dam Aaja Nachle was a five-time winner on the track. She has already produced Group 2 placegetter One More Time.
All the hard work has been done and Carrasco provide a great opportunity for owners to jump into a lightly race 3 year old staying filly with great ability.
