We made a strategic decision some years ago to concentrate on buying yearlings from the best nurseries. The Stud at the top of our wish list has been the famous nursery known as ARROWFIELD STUD.
Situated just outside Scone - the Horse Capital of Australia, the foals and mares roam the lush green undulating paddocks building muscle and strength on the 2500 acre property. The same paddocks which raised champions like Zabeel, Flying Spur, Lanken Rupee, The Autumn Sun and more recent star young horses Lady Shenandoah, Private Life and Switzerland.
In 2023, we purchased BIG SWINGER from Arrowfield. He has more natural talent than any horse we have trained. He will get his chance in the coming 12 months to show his real talent.
In 2025, we have secured what we bvelove is another outstanding young prospect from Arrowfield - a chestnut colt buy their resident stallion CASTELVECCHIO.
Castelvecchio is a star sire in the making. His first crop of yearlings are now only 3yo's and included in that year are the likes of EL CASTELLO (winner of the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes) and exciting Chris Waller filly AELIANA (dual Group 3 winner and runner up in the G1 Thousand Guineas).

Castelvecchio himself was an outstanding racehorse winning the G1 Champagne Stakes, the Rosehill Guineas and few would forget his unforgettable run in the Cox Plate when a gallant second to the Japanese champ LYS GRACIEUX.
This colt sold for $180,000. We had to fight off good challenges in the ring from John O'Shea and Kris Lees and hopefully in time, they will be regretting the fact that they didn't go a coupler of extra bids!.
He is a magnificent looker. A quality head, amazing physique and a beautiful mover. He out a real Arrowfield product being out of a Group placed SNIZTEL mare.
On type, this colt looks sharp enough to be a 1400m/1600m horse as a late 2yo and then out to 2000m as a 3yo with that Castelvecchio and Dundeel blood kicking in.
The colt is currently spelling at Muskoka Farm in NSW where he will be educated before coming down to our Pakenham stables later in the year.
