Day 3 of the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale and we were delighted to secure this sharp, athletic filly by Daumier out of Hatsuko from Twin Hills Stud for just $20,000.

She is a compact, short-coupled filly who looks every bit a natural early runner. Strong through the body and balanced in her action, she presents as a ready-made sprinting type who we expect to be up and racing at two. To make the opportunity even more accessible, she will be offered on a set-fee basis with nothing further to pay until she turns two.

This is the first crop of yearlings for Daumier, the only Group 1-winning colt of his generation and the only horse to win the Blue Diamond Stakes having been foaled in November. Born on November 26, he was effectively giving away significant maturity to his rivals, making his Blue Diamond victory an even more remarkable performance. He was fast, tough and precocious — exactly the profile you want in a sire of early-running stock.

The filly’s dam, Hatsuko, raced just six times for a win over 1400 metres and showed ability from an early stage, trialling in January of her two-year-old season. She is by Maurice, a sire renowned for producing tough, genuine performers, which adds further depth and durability to the pedigree.

She represents a genuine opportunity to get to the races quickly with a precocious type who still has plenty of substance. At her purchase price, she won’t need to do much to put us well and truly in front.
