Same Sire as Different Gravy!!
Sales Page - https://catalogue.magicmillions.com.au/lot/26GPR/852
Why wouldn’t we be trying to collect as many Ghaiyyath’s as we can? With only three progeny in the sale of the 2020 World Champion, current Australian leading second season sire and sire of our very own Different Gravy, we were obviously ultra keen to inspect his offerings this week.
From 33 Australian runners to date, Ghaiyyath has produced 13 individual winners including four individual stakes winners, that’s more than any of his second season compatriots including Ole Kirk (2), Bivouac (2), Farnan (1), Wootton Bassett (2), Tagaloa (2), King’s Legacy (0), Earthlight (1), Lucky Vega (0) etc. He can clearly get an elite staying horse, as evidenced by his stakes winners to date - Observer (G1 VRC Derby 2500m), Different Gravy (LR VRC TAB Trophy 1800m), Freedom Flame (LR SAJC Hill Smith S 1800m), Yum (LR MRC Jim Moloney S 1400m). This is without factoring in his outstanding success in Europe with multiple stakes winners the like of Opera Bello, The Padre, Al Uqda, Mandanaba and My Highness. He simply shouldn’t be doing what he is at this stage of his career with the relative disadvantage of staying types who take longer to mature, versus sprinting stallions.
Of his three fillies in the sale this week, we thought the filly out of Stage Performer was clearly the pick of them. Big and strong like her father, she looks every bit the Oaks filly as a three-year-old. From a good old Gooree Stud family featuring second dam Tropical Affair and her progeny Prized Icon, Matras, Romantic Moon and Kabayan. This filly’s dam, Stage Performer, has been a great producer with six winners, most of which have been by sub-standard stallions. One of her daughter’s, Oscar Award, has also produced multiple Perth stakes-winner Oscar’s Fortune.
Aside from producing strong stayers, Ghaiyyath’s great strength has been an ability to upgrade his mares - his success to date has come from small crops of average mares, and he’ll certainly be an upgrade on the stallions Stage Performer has visited to date.
Additionally, this filly is fully eligible for Magic Millions Race Series and VOBIS Silver, Gold and Platinum benefits.
