2yo Filly Being Trained In Sydney by Gary Portelli!
Since we bought this filly earlier this year, Harry Angel has been crowned the Champion 3rd Season in Australia!
His big race winners include WAR MACHINE (G1 Stradbroke Hcp), TOM KITTEN (G1 All-Star Mile), PRIVATE HARRY (G1 Kia Ora Galaxy), ANGEL CAPITAL (G2 Autumn Stakes), and ARKANSAW KID (G2 Bobbie Lewis Qlty, L Regal Roller Stakes). In Australia nearly 1 in 7 of his runners are stakes winners!
A Group 2 winner as a 2yo and a dual Group 1 winner as a 3yo, Harry Angel gained the title of World Champion Sprinter gaining a Timeform rating of 132 at his peak. Since being retired to stud, Harry Angel has just had his best season across two Hemispheres. His record at stud now stands at 292 runners for 169 winners with 17 stakes winners. Top shelf racehorses such as TOM KITTEN (All Star Mile), PRIVATE HARRY (Kia Ora Galaxy), ARKANSAW KID, STRETAN ANGEL and ANGEL CAPITAL are all flying the flag for the stallion in Australia.
Looking at the pedigree page, this filly’s dam Tavivalley (by Tavistock) is a half sister to the Group 1 winning mare Valley Girl. The second dam Leigh Valley was a Group 3 winner and won from distances from 1100m to 1600m. It’s a family with more than it’s share of black type success through the generations. Our filly is just the second foal of the mare.
Although officially registered as ‘brown’, this delightfully attractive filly is almost a stunning black in colour. She’s got a very good attitude and moves well. It’s worth noting that she was bred and reared at Collingrove Stud, a boutique property, where the horses benefit from some of the very best one on one care. We purchased our multiple black type performer Grand Pierro from Collingrove and we’re always drawn to their offerings.
Our filly is bred on a similar cross to the dual Group 1 winning two year old Angel Bleu, and with her being a BOBS eligible horse, we thought the best placement we could make is to send her to NSW where she’ll head to Gary Portelli at Warwick Farm. This season Gary has proved again with Group 1 success with Kimochi that he is an exceptionally talented horseman with fillies. Kimochi was just a $20,000 yearling as was his 2017 Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign. Gary is the perfect trainer for Grand Syndicates, as it’s clear that he trains the horse and not the price tag.
This is a 20-share syndicate with the 5% shares priced at $4,040. The purchase price includes the share in the horse, and all other acquisition, agistment, breaking in, transport and further training costs incurred from her purchase right through to the end of December 2025, meaning that there’s nothing more to pay until January 1st, 2026. Grand Syndicates’ fixed fees apply at the rate of $295/month ($68.07/week), paid quarterly by direct debit. This amount has been calculated to cover all relevant costs such as racing, training, agistment, vet, farrier, management and communications and other associated costs.
