In AFL draft lingo, you would say that Hayfields was in need of a tough half back flanker.

After picking up some good looking, well bred outside players in the earlier sales, Hayfields needed a tough half back flanker.

Something with strong legs, good biceps and big shoulders to carry the load. Something that will stand up when the game is tight with a big tackle or game saving mark.

We found our man - Lot 137 - a tough colt by KERMADEC. A colt who will take a few bumps and wont be afraid to take a tight gap. A colt which pin his ears back in a tight finish and have the will the win on the big stage.

He has the physique to take on older horses. This colt is very well built. Muscle on muscle.

He has a pedigree to back up his resilient looks. He comes from the same family as HUMIDOR - the durable Group 1 winning middle distance gelding who pushed the mighty WINX to under half a length in a Cox Plate.

He is by KERMADEC is very underated. He has actually had the same amount of individual group one winners as TORONADO yet the Kermadec yearlings are 1/5th of the price.

The cross works. When nicked with Redoutes Choice line mares, Kermadec strikes at 80% Winners to Runners 

This colt was rated very highly by his breeder Gary O'Meara from Miranda park who has brought back a share - always good sign.
