Lonhro x Alison Of Tuffy
As nice a physical specimen as there was in the sale, this gorgeous, athletic, powerful filly has the pedigree to back up her movie star looks.
While her sire Lonhro needs no introduction – Champion racehorse turned Champion sire, this filly forms part of his last crop prior to his sad demise in 2024 – to put it bluntly, they’re not making them any more! Over his amazing career at stud Lonhro has sired 1068 winners including 97 individual stakes winners. It’s a record that will endure for generations.
The filly’s mother, Alison of Tuffy, did a great job on the track showing her class and durability by ultimately becoming a stakes winner at the age of five. While she took a while to find her form, she improved dramatically year to year throughout her career, which wouldn’t have been unexpected being out of a Zabeel mare. In fact, if you look down her sireline she has probably the best six broodmare sire influences in Australia for the past 50 years there in Zabeel, Danehill, Centaine, Bletchingly then Sir Tristram. This filly certainly has plenty of blue blood running through her veins!
On type she was a standout – traditionally Lonhro fillies can be a bit on the smaller, lighter boned side however physically the cross with a bigger, colonial style mare has worked wonders here. The filly would be a fraction bigger than medium size, very powerful, good boned, a great length of rein and depth of girth and powerful hind quarter. She’s a great mover and has terrific athleticism and fluency for a bigger filly. We are rapped to have secured her for $160k (no GST) and feel that a filly with her pedigree and type should have terrific residual value if we can hit the board with her.
