Is this Peltzer filly our Oaks filly? If she is multiple Oaks winning trainer Matt Laurie is the man to find out.
"She's an outstanding filly"- John Price!
Every year, alongside our bloodstock consultant John Price, we inspect thousands of yearlings across the major sales in search of quality young horses that we believe represent genuine value.
We’re very selective, and only on rare occasions do we award a yearling our highest possible rating — what we call the “three ticks.”
At this year’s Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, something unusual happened. Working independently, both John and Grand Syndicates Owner Peter Morley both identified the same filly — Lot 631, this lovely filly by Peltzer — both awarded her the elusive three ticks.
They were both struck by her balance, athleticism, and fluent movement. After further research, pedigree analysis, and veterinary assessment, we made the decision she was coming home with us.
At Grand Syndicates we are always trying to find outstanding physical types that also represent genuine value, often by targeting stallions who look to be on the verge of breaking through.
And Peltzer certainly fits that profile.
A Group 2-winning son of champion sire So You Think, Peltzer was a high-class two-year-old himself, and from limited early opportunities he has already produced 15 winners from just 41 runners. His progeny are starting to make people sit up and take notice, and we believe his profile is heading in the right direction.
The filly’s pedigree is also full of appeal. Her second dam is the outstanding Sacred Choice, a nine-time winner and multiple Group 1 winner, remembered as one of Australia’s toughest and most tenacious race mares. There’s also encouraging depth in the family, with her two-year-old half-brother currently in work with a leading city stable and showing promising signs.
For pedigree enthusiasts, this filly also scores a perfect 20/20 on the G1 Goldmine matrix, aligning her with elite performers such as Thought Of That, Victoria Quay, Nimalee, and Dundeel.
On type and pedigree, she looks like a filly who should continue to improve as she gets out over ground, and we see her as the sort who could develop into a lovely middle-distance/classic-style prospect.
Announcing a New Trainer to Grand Syndicates-MATT LAURIE!
