This colt profiles as an ideal 1600m–2500m Spring three-year-old, a type that opens up a wealth of opportunities across Melbourne and Sydney. Races such as the Spring Champion Stakes (won by his sire Profondo) and the Victoria Derby are obvious long-term targets.

Equally appealing are the key lead-up races including the Gloaming Stakes, Norman Robinson Stakes, and the Moonee Valley Vase on Cox Plate day.

This is exactly the type of horse we target to get owners to the big days, and to make those weekend trips to Australia truly worthwhile.

There is also the New Zealand Derby to consider in the autumn on Champions Day. With a horse like this, the options are extensive. If he measures up, there is a plethora of Group 1 2000m races available in New Zealand and abroad as an older horse.

Importantly, Profondo’s dam was a very precocious two-year-old, winning a Group 3 and competing in the Golden Slipper Stakes. As a result, a two-year-old campaign with Te Akau is certainly not out of the question.
