We couldn’t be happier to present our newest offering to our loyal owners and subscribers. We purchased this gelding at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale, a sale that has produced numerous Group 1 and stakes winners in recent years.
The Ready2Race Sale is unique, as it features two-year-olds that have already been educated, allowing buyers to assess how each horse moves in a public breeze-up before the auction.
This year, we compared all 256 horses catalogued, assessing their breeze-up footage and times, as well as their conformation and pedigrees, to compile our inspection list.
From there, we carefully inspected the horses in person and narrowed down our selections.
Our number one target was this Russian Revolution gelding, and we’re delighted to have secured him.
He comes from the outstanding family that produced Champion Sire Snitzel, and he has the powerful, muscular build so typical of Russian Revolution’s progeny. Even in his breeze-up, he appeared to have plenty left in reserve, and we’re excited to see how he develops. We would be delighted if you would consider joining us in racing him.
From the video, he galloped through to the line with a focused, well-balanced action while his rider barely asked him for an effort. His stride still appeared to have plenty in reserve, and he showed real room for improvement.
It is a common misconception that, when attending a breeze-up sale, buyers should focus on the horses with the fastest times. We look for horses with nice actions that appear focused on their work and have plenty of improvement to come as they continue to develop and progress.
Sire: Russian Revolution
Russian Revolution won seven races from his 11 career starts, including both of his starts as a juvenile. He was raced by the formidable Newgate / China Horse Club Colts' Syndicate and consistently competed against the best.
He won two Group 1 races amongst a host of Stakes wins, beating Redzel in The Galaxy (1100m) before returning the following autumn to win the Oakleigh Plate, defeating Hellbent in what would be his final start.
He began his career in the breeding barn with the same momentum he showed at the end of his racing career. He was crowned Champion First Season Sire in 2021–22, with headline horses such as Revolutionary Girl narrowly beaten in the Blue Diamond Stakes and Russian Conquest finishing a close second in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic. He backed this up the following season by being crowned Champion Second Season Sire.
To date, he has sired 447 runners for 306 winners, including 15 stakes winners and three Group 1 winners.
His male progeny average around $120,000 in earnings per runner. This is headlined by the Group 1 winners Communist (Randwick Guineas) and Libertad (Winterbottom Stakes). Libertad, like our horse, is a graduate of the Inglis Ready2Race Sale.
He is a classic example of an underrated sire with consistently strong statistics. His stakes-winners-to-runners strike rate among his male progeny is around 5%, comparable with those of leading sires.
Dam: Za Zi Ba (by All Too Hard)
Za Zi Ba won four races over 1100m and 1200m, including one as a two-year-old, and earned around $190,000. She finished third in the Listed Darby Munro Stakes and fourth in the Listed Fireball Stakes, demonstrating her ability to compete against stakes-class horses.
As a broodmare, both of her foals to race are winners. Her second foal, King of Pop (by Farnan), won twice as a two-year-old, including the Group 3 Black Opal Stakes, and finished second in the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes. This is her third foal.
Her younger half-brothers include Group 1 Epsom Handicap winner Rediener, who earned $2.2 million, as well as the Listed winner Rathlin.
Za Zi Ba’s dam, Wiener, is an outstanding broodmare who produced ten winners from ten runners. She is a half-sister to Snitzel. This family recently produced Group 1 Thousand Guineas winner Ole Dancer, and it remains one of Australia’s most vibrant families.
Za Zi Ba’s sire, All Too Hard, is a half-brother to the unbeaten Champion Mare Black Caviar. He won four Group 1 races himself, including the Caulfield Guineas, and as a broodmare sire, he is responsible for horses such as Sass Appeal, Cristal Clear and Tremonti.
Pedigree
The dam’s best progeny, King of Pop, is from the Danehill sire-line, so the thinking behind this mating is very similar.
In addition, Russian Revolution is by Snitzel. Snitzel’s dam, Snippets’ Lass, is also this gelding’s third dam, meaning he carries a 3x3 cross of Snippets’ Lass. This is known as the Rasmussen Factor, which occurs when a horse’s pedigree features repeated crosses of a prominent female ancestor. It is a highly regarded approach in thoroughbred breeding. Combined with this, through his broodmare sire All Too Hard, he brings in the famed Black Caviar family.
It is a well-thought-out mating that combines speed and stamina.
Breeze-Up Assessment
He breezed on the turf at Wangaratta (Good 4) and recorded a time of 10.98 seconds.
His rider, Arron Lynch, is a talented jumps jockey who is heavier than most of the other breeze-up riders. His style is not to push horses but to let them run within themselves. As a result, our own analysis showed that every horse he rode during the Wangaratta session recorded a time towards the slower end of the field.
We also found that among the five horses he rode, this gelding recorded the fastest time.
Because he was not ridden out hard, his stride did not appear to open up fully. We believe this 10.98-second time was recorded with plenty still in hand, and we are excited to see how much further he can stretch out once he is asked to extend and reaches his full stride.
The Gelding
What really attracted us to this horse is his powerful, muscular frame combined with a very compact build. He isn’t overly gross but carries plenty of strength, with his well-developed hindquarters standing out in particular. At the walk, he tracks up well behind, and there is no stiffness in his shoulder movement.
He was foaled on 30 August, making him an early-season foal. He has already been educated and completed his breeze-up, so we hope to see him performing early in his two-year-old season.
Given the profile of his sire’s progeny and his dam’s racing record, we expect him to be best suited to distances of around 1000m to 1400m initially.
He is eligible for Victoria’s VOBIS Silver and the BOBS scheme. As a graduate of an Inglis sale, he is also eligible for the lucrative Inglis Race Series.

ワンガラッタ競馬場の芝コース（Good 4）で行われたブリーズアップの時計は10秒98でした。
この時計だけを見ると、同コースのブリーズアップの時計の中では見劣りしますが、それこそがこれほどの馬を格安で買えた理由です。
本馬に騎乗したアーロン・リンチ騎手は障害競走の騎手で、ブリーズアップに騎乗する他のライダーと比べて体重が重めです。また、無理に追わず、馬なりに近い形で走らせるのがこの騎手の特徴です。そのため、弊社の確認では、このワンガラッタのセッションで彼が騎乗した馬の時計は、全体から見るといずれもかなり遅めでした。その中で、彼が騎乗した5頭のうち最も速い時計を出したのが本馬です。
映像を見ても、他のブリーズアップの馬たちに比べるとまだ余力を残していることが分かりますし、その中で最後まで集中して走れています。まだビッチリと追われていないこともあり、ストライドがフルに伸び切っていないように感じます。我々はこの10秒98は余力を残した状態で出した時計と判断しており、追われてフルストライドに達したときに、どこまで伸びるのか楽しみな内容でした。
本馬の魅力
いかにもロシアンレボリューション産駒らしい馬体をしています。コンパクトにまとまった馬体に、非常に力強く豊富な筋肉を備えているのが最大の魅力で、特にトモの充実ぶりが目を引きます。常歩では後肢がしっかり踏み込めており、肩の動きにも硬さがありません。
8月30日生まれの早生まれで、すでに馴致を終えてブリーズアップまで経験していることから、2歳の早い時期からの活躍を期待したい一頭です。父の産駒の傾向と母の現役時代の成績を考えると、まずは1000m〜1400mあたりが主戦場になると思われます。

本馬の魅力
いかにもロシアンレボリューション産駒らしい馬体をしています。コンパクトにまとまった馬体に、非常に力強く豊富な筋肉を備えているのが最大の魅力で、特にトモの充実ぶりが目を引きます。常歩では後肢がしっかり踏み込めており、肩の動きにも硬さがありません。
8月30日生まれの早生まれで、すでに馴致を終えてブリーズアップまで経験していることから、2歳の早い時期からの活躍を期待したい一頭です。父の産駒の傾向と母の現役時代の成績を考えると、まずは1000m〜1400mあたりが主戦場になると思われます。
