The New Zealand Karaka Yearling Sale took place this week and we were delighted to secure a handsome and very well bred colt by champion sire SAVABEEL for NZ$140,000.

This year was the 100th Anniversary of the NZ Yearling Sales which has produced countless champions and Group 1 stars over the years. The kiwis know how to breed and sell a good horse with the likes of PHAR LAP, RISING FAST, TULLOCH, DULCIFY, OCTAGONAL and SO YOU THINK forming an elite group of horses to come out of this sale.

In more recent times, we have seen graduates of the calibre of AELIANA, ANTINO, ATISHU, CEOLWULF and MR BRIGHTSIDE. The list goes on..

Two studs reign supreme in New Zealand...Waikato Stud and Cambridge Stud.

Since the retirement of ZABEEL earlier this century, his son SAVABEEL has taken the Champion Sires Title on no less than 10 occasions.

This year, we were not only able to find a colt by Savabeel but he was raised on the mineral rich soils of the great Waikato Stud.

The full brother to this colt (AMMARATI) is currently one of the favourites for the upcoming G1 NZ Derby. AMMARATI does not appear in the catalogue as his first win was registered after the catalogue went to print and his two recent stakes wins would have been missed by many buyers.

He is a cracking colt, will stay in NZ for the next two months to grow out before coming to Australia.

They will not be making Savabeels for too much longer so this is a fantastic chance to buy into a kiwi blueblood by a sire who has produced 35 individual Group 1 winners  headed by I WISH I WIN and PROBABEEL.

COST OF OWNERSHIP

The total cost of the colt is $157,000 which includes the purchase price in NZ dollars, 12 months insurance, bloodstock agents commission and all vetting and sale costs.

PRICE AND EXCHANGE RATE

The above price covers purchase price, 12 months insurance, bloodstock commission, xrays, vetting and sale costs.

Price does not cover transport to Australia (approx $7,0000) and GST on the purchase will be payable by owners at the time of Import

Further, the Australian Dollar is currently strong against the NZ Dollar. At the moment, NZ$140k equates to approximately AUD$120,000. Owners will receive an exchange rate credit calculated at the time when payment of the horse is made by Hayfields to NZB.

STATISTICS ON THE SAVBEEL/PINS CROSS

Five Group 1 winners have been bred on this exact cross with an unbelievable 12% Stakes Winners to Runners Ratio. For more stats on Savabeel - https://waikatostud.com/stallions/savabeel/
