As the hammer dropped at the Inglis Classic on this superb filly by Shalaa she was only heading to one trainer. Gavin Bedggood is on the radar of all leading owners in Victoria and we have been part of his stable now for over 12 months. One of the most hardworking , diligent and now proven talented trainers we were delighted when Gavin said yes to training our filly.

Gavin has achieved incredible success from limited resources and is the trainer of the best Shalaa in training Mornington Glory the winner of the Group 1 Manikato. He also trained the multiple city winner Shalaman and has recently been sent the black type mare Jennilala by the stallion to train. He loves the breed and was keen to get the keys to our filly.

This Inglis Classic Yearling Sale purchase will be very hard to beat in terms of value across the sales season. She comes from a family that have regularly wowed the sales ring , her un raced dam is a half sister to Diplomatico who fetched $1.7 million as a yearling. It’s a family that produces quality looking horses that when they get to the races they win. The second and third dams have had 17 foals to the races for 16 individual winners , 4 successful at black type level and multiple city class horses.

This filly was presented by Arrowfield who have produced 86 Group1 winning farm and sale graduates. By Shalaa, the Champion GB and French 2yo, a stallion that is now making his mark in the Southern Hemisphere. This was a very astute mating, the dam Favrow was an un raced daughter by Pariah. Pariah is of course a son of Redoutes Choice, the Shalaa x Redoutes Choice nick has seen 27 runners for 18 winners. On our preferred pedigree matrix G1 Goldmines it’s a similar cross to Seven Veils, Semillion and Jennilala all highly successful horses by Shaala. It is in fact a very similar cross to the stallion himself.

She was a quiet and unassuming filly at the sales complex who just went about her business like an older mare. She is a good bodied and well grown out filly whose looks and stature belie her sales price.
