by Upcoming Sire State of Rest!
Sale Page - State of Rest x Estoril Park C
A really lovely colt by a globe-trotting iron horse in State of Rest, from a sharp, stakes placed Pride of Dubai mare who comes from the family of Champagne and St Reims.
State of Rest has impressed all the good judges with his first crop of yearlings. They’re far stronger, better bodied and more forward than anyone would have expected from a stallion that was at his best over 2000m and beyond. On paper he’s interesting too in that he’s the only horse to ever win three consecutive Group 1’s on three different continents. His performance to beat Anamoe in the 2021 Cox Plate was phenomenal when you consider State of Rest was only six months older but conceded 7kg to Anamoe. His peak rating of 127 was a point higher than Anamoe’s so when you consider what the two are standing for at stud, and what their yearlings are fetching in the sales ring, there seems a massive disparity.
We felt that in the case of this particular colt, the $50k+GST we paid for him was a massive undersell, given the type of yearling he is, and the fact when conceived the stallion’s service fee was $44k+GST. He vetted and scoped out exceptionally cleanly and we feel he’s going to develop into a beautiful 1600-2000m horse.
