When our bloodstock adviser John Price went shopping at the 2026 Magic Millions March Yearling Sale, he knew exactly the type of horse he was looking for. And in this lovely daughter of the exciting new stallion STRONGER, we're confident he's found just what we wanted!
From the moment she stepped out for inspection, this filly made a terrific impression. She's a strong, athletic individual with an excellent walk, plenty of presence and, perhaps most importantly, a wonderful attitude.
There's nothing complicated about her. She's a confident, self-assured youngster who takes everything in her stride, and throughout the sales inspections she handled herself as well as any horse we saw.
Better still, since the sale, she's been fully broken in, and we're pleased to report that her education went beautifully. She's taken everything in her stride and given us every reason to look forward to the next stage of her development.
STRONGER – A GROUP 1 WINNING SPRINTER WITH AN EXCITING FUTURE
We're particularly pleased to have secured a daughter of STRONGER, a brilliant son of the outstanding stallion NOT A SINGLE DOUBT.
Stronger was a natural racehorse from the very beginning. He was winning races before Christmas as a two-year-old and quickly established himself as a youngster with genuine ability, going on to capture the Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial Classic at the Gold Coast. His speed and talent subsequently took him to Hong Kong, where he developed into a top-class sprinter, ultimately winning the prestigious Group 1 Centenary Sprint Cup over 1200 metres at Sha Tin.
That's the sort of speed and precocity we're looking to reproduce in our filly.
And there's another very interesting aspect to Stronger's pedigree.
His dam, STAR PUPIL, is also the dam of the outstanding multiple Group 1-winning mare LADY SHENANDOAH, making Stronger a half-brother to one of Australia's most accomplished young mares. That's a serious pedigree connection! Stronger is now embarking on his stud career at Aquis Farm, and his first crop of yearlings has attracted plenty of attention in the sales ring. For us, the attraction is obvious. Here's a horse who possessed natural early speed, trained on to become a Group 1 winner at the highest level, and comes from a family with an abundance of class.
It's an exciting combination for a young filly destined to race in Queensland.
A FEMALE FAMILY PACKED WITH QUALITY
Of course, a good stallion is only half the equation, and we're equally impressed with what this filly has on her mother's side. Her dam, Mistress McDowell comes from a particularly distinguished family and is a three-quarter sister to the outstanding Group 1 winner HE'S NO PIE EATER. There's plenty more quality further down the pedigree, including the champion sire REDOUTE'S CHOICE and Group 1 winner AL MAHER.
Her dam has already produced winners, including the speedy Wild Cherry Road, who won over 1000 metres. This is a family with a long history of producing high-class racehorses, and when you combine that genetic background with the physical qualities John admired so much, it's not difficult to understand why she made our shortlist.
Good looks, a terrific attitude and a pedigree with real substance. We reckon that's a pretty good place to start!
JACK BRUCE – A TRAINER GOING PLACES!
Currently sitting second on the Queensland Trainers Premiership, JACK BRUCE is one of Queensland's most progressive trainers. Jack has been making a good impression since establishing his training operation, and last season was his best yet, finishing fifth in the Queensland trainers' premiership with more than 80 winners. And he certainly hasn't been resting on his laurels!
Jack has continued to build on that success, establishing himself as a trainer who knows how to place his horses to advantage and, importantly, get them winning. Of course, at Grand Syndicates, we already know what Jack is capable of. He's done an excellent job with our fillies Missile One and Don'tcha Luv'er, and we've been delighted not just with the results, but also with his professionalism, enthusiasm and first-class communication.
We place enormous importance on keeping our owners properly informed, and Jack understands that better than most.
We're delighted to be giving him another promising young filly to work with.
