Supido colt from Group 3 winning dam
Supido is "Speed" in Japanese and the son of the Gr.1 Golden Slipper winning high class stallion Sebring was well named, showing plenty of pace and class in an 18 start career that saw him win seven races including six in a row.
Competitive without the best of luck in Gr.1 company, Supido showed his rivals a clean pair of heels taking out the Gr.3 Sir John Monash Stakes and the regally bred entire (from and line-bred to the family of Danehill, Northern Dancer and Halo) is now doing the job at stud.
With his oldest progeny just five, Supido has a good strike rate with the likes of Buenos Noches and What You Need showing the same sort of speed and talent as their sire.
All studies show that stakes winning mares make superlative broodmares and the extra smart Dinkum Diamond is one fine example, the Gr.3 sprinter already well represented by six winners including the dual Group winning up-and-coming young stallion Graff.
Also dam of the stakes placed Steel Diamond (a $320,000 yearling) and the city winner Sparkly Star with her two-year-old Diamond Edge (a $220,000 yearling) showing talent at the Flemington jump-outs, Dinkum Diamond was a precocious type able to win three of her first four starts.
Her win in the Gr.3 The Jansz was particularly impressive - settling at the rear and charging home!
Dinkum Diamond is one of the eight winners (from as many foals to race) for another classy race mare in Raja Lane, also dam of the dual Gr.3 winner Dawn Passage.
What a terrific mare Raja Lane was, the winner of seven races (with another 17 placings from 39 starts) including the Gr.3 Dermody Stakes at Morphettville and the Listed Christmas Stakes at Caulfield.
Like Supido's best son Buenos Noches, this colt boasts a cross of the influential stallion Halo from whose family Supido hails. He also has strong Marchetta (Alycidon, Turn-To, My Babu and Habeas Corpus) and Plucky Liege (Supido's dam Brian's Time is line-bred to her as are Sir Ivor and Habeas Corpus who both feature in Raja Lane) influence; excellent pedigree strength.
